WELCOME!

To me, therapy is largely about the relationship that forms and exists between therapist and client. It is this relationship that is key to a client working toward identifying and honoring their most authentic self. There are any number of skills, techniques, worksheets, etc, that can be utilized in the course of therapy, but without a solid therapeutic “alliance” therapy is doomed to end poorly or prematurely.

I am committed to providing high quality therapy services to adolescents, adults and seniors. I am committed to working with you to identify what it is that is most important to you and work with you in whatever manner is most appropriate to YOUR situation.

My approach can be described as “soulful,” “validating,” and “gentle.” But don’t mistake this to mean that I won’t push you, nudging you as needed to help you meet your treatment objectives.

My counseling methods focus on developing connection, communication, and self-empowerment. For this reason, I aspire to learn from my clients as much as I aid them on their journeys.

Finally, I look forward to integrating the Christian truths of my Orthodox Christian faith into the therapeutic process when and where appropriate. But make no mistake, I am, and will remain, sensitive to each client’s right to choose the level of interest in this approach. Your cultural, religious and spiritual orientations will be discussed in the initial assessment at our first session.

I look forward to working with you!

More About Michelle

I grew up in Denver, Colorado. I knew at an early age that I was interested in the integration of faith and psychology. I majored in Religious Studies at Regis College, Denver. After graduating from Regis, I attended St. Vladimir’s Seminary in Crestwood NY. I did not complete a degree at St Vladimir’s because I chose instead to marry my husband, who I met through the church. My husband and I have been married 33 years and have four grown children, most of whom continue to reside in the Denver metro area. We are also parent to 2 dogs (one of which is our son’s but continues to reside with us), after losing our precious Mikey in February 2025. When our 2 eldest children were young, I returned to school and earned my Master’s degree in Counseling at Regis University in 1999. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. My husband and I enjoy traveling throughout the state when we are able and excitedly explore all that Colorado has to offer. My husband and I are active members of a local Orthodox Christian church. I feel blessed to have discovered a career that I have truly enjoyed for almost 30 years.

Michelle Dyl, MA, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been in practice in Community Mental Health since 1997. I earned my Masters Degree in Counseling from Regis University, in Denver CO, in 1999. I previously attended St Vladimir’s Seminary in Crestwood, NY.

My work at Jefferson Center for Mental Health has included years of crisis services work, including support of the Jefferson County community following the Columbine High School shootings. I also provided evaluations of youth to determine the need for in residential treatment, and supported the youth and their families by providing intensive case management throughout the youth’s residential stay. Most recently I have worked as part of the Acute Services team as the Lead Clinician at Jefferson Center’s 24/7 Walk-In Crisis Center followed by 4+ years as a Hospital Liaison.

I have long had a desire to integrate my Orthodox Christian faith with the theories, skills, and techniques I have honed over the past 2+ decades of Mental Health treatment. I recently launched my own private practice and am hoping to circle back to my initial reason for entering this profession.

I am a member of OCAMPR - Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology and Religion, and have recently been certified as a Mental Health First Aid Trainer.

COUNSELING SERVICES

What treatment is offered?

I provide psychotherapy for a wide variety of life issues, including, but not limited to:  trauma, transitions and adjustments, grief, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and relationship concerns. I am trained in numerous therapeutic methods, each of which may be useful depending on the patient’s choice, the symptoms being treated, and the appropriateness of the intervention. I prefer a person-centered, psychodynamic approach. I am amenable to both short-term, specific goal oriented treatment AND longer term, psychodynamic approach to long-standing issues.

In our initial session, I will complete an assessment of your concerns and make recommendations regarding treatment. Together we will determine what your goals are for counseling and how we will go about meeting those goals, including verbally agreeing upon a treatment plan.

What does counseling cost?

Behavioral health or mental health is a covered medical benefit provided by most health insurance plans. I am an in-network provider for several plans; please inquire as to whether or not I am contracted with your plan. If so, I accept the insurer's allowed amount (discounted rate) for services, such that you may only be responsible for a copayment or deductible/coinsurance amount.

Without insurance, please see the "Client Responsibilities and Fees" form under New Patient Forms for my current rates.

How do I get started?

You may call or email me if you have questions, would like more information, and/or are ready to schedule an appointment. I typically respond within 24 hours.
